Since 1961, Basement Waterproofing Solutions has been protecting homes and preserving foundations for generations. Family owned and operated for over six decades, we specialize in basement waterproofing, structural foundation repair, sill plate repair, exterior drainage, and mold remediation.

My story in this business began back in 1966, when I was just five years old. I’d tag along with my dad after half-day kindergarten, holding the drop light while he repaired foundation cracks for builders in Staten Island — out of the trunk of his car.
One day that year, he fired me for fidgeting. Five minutes later, he hired me back. The rest, as they say, is history.

In 1979, after many summers working with my dad, I joined him full time. There were good times and tough times, but we always pushed through together — and remained best friends. We worked side by side until his retirement in the early ’90s.

After continuing to run the business for another decade, life brought changes. Following the events of 9/11, I moved my family to southern Vermont and partnered with another professional to continue operations. In 2010, I sold the original Mendola Waterproofing company.

But in 2012, I started again — with my sister Barbara and my son Sal Jr. — and Basement Waterproofing Solutions was born. Today, we’re proud to have 15 dedicated employees who share our family’s passion for keeping basements dry and homes safe.

My dad and best friend is no longer with us but I know he is still close by. He will never be forgotten and forever missed!!!
